Names
Athroisma hastifolium Mattf. [family ], in N.B.G.B. 13: 298 (1936); T. Eriksson in J.L.S. 119: 151, t. 29 (1995). Type: Tanzania, Mbulu District: between Oldeani and Lake Manyara, Troll 5605 (B, lecto., chosen by Eriksson)
Information
Annual or perennial herb, 15–60 cm high, the base slightly woody; branches densely pubescent, usually glandular. Leaves triangular to ovate, 3–6.5 cm long, 2–5 cm wide, base truncate to almost hastate to almost attenuate, margins serrate, apex acute to acuminate, pubescent, glandular, 3-veined from base; petiole 10–25 mm. Glomerules solitary but branches close together may give an impression of 2–6 together, each 13–20 mm in diameter, with 20–40 capitula; phyllaries 3–4 mm long; paleae 4–5 mm long. Florets white or slightly pink, female florets 2, 2–2.5 mm long, glandular; disc florets 10–15, 2.5–3 mm long, glandular. Achenes ovoid to ellipsoid, 1–1.5 mm long, slightly hairy, without glands; pappus absent.
