Leaves grey-glaucous beneath, punctate or not, 3–5-foliolate, suborbicular in outline, base ± cordate, 3–14 by 2.5– 13 cm.; leaflets entire, or (especially the middle ones) pinnately up to 5-lobed, ovate to oblong, base acute, top obtuse to acute, 1–10 by 0.5– 5(–7) cm., reticulation indistinct, margin entire; petiolule (0–)0.2–2.5 cm.; petiole 1–5 cm. Glands at blade-base 2, on 2 ± upward curved auricles 1–3 mm. in diameter at the transition to the petiole; blade-glands 2–4 between the insertions of the leaflets, and up to 10 small glands scattered or submarginal, rarely with 2 auricle-like glands at the top of the petiolule. Stipules linear, ± 1 mm., withering. Inflorescences peduncled for 1–6 cm., up to 15-flowered in ♂, 1–4-flowered in ♀; tendril 2–6 cm.; sterile tendrils up to 12 cm. Male flowers tubular-infundibuliform, including the 15– 25 mm. long stipe 25–40 mm.; hypanthium including calyx-tube (5–)7–9 mm., 2–4 mm. wide; calyx-lobes oblong-lanceolate, obtuse, 5–6.5 mm., subentire; petals lanceolate or oblanceolate, obtuse, (4–)5–6 mm., 3-nerved, minutely serrulate at the top, inserted (4–)5–6 mm. above the base of the hypanthium; filaments 4–5 mm., connate for ±1.5 mm., inserted on an androgynophore ± 0.5 mm.; anthers 4.5–6 mm., obtuse, up to 0.1 mm. apiculate; septa ± 1 mm. high; corona 0; disk glands 0.5–1 mm. Female flowers tubular-infundibuliform, including the 8–12(–15) mm. long stipe 16–24(–30) mm.; hypanthium. including calyx-tube 2–6.5 mm., 2–4 mm. wide; calyx-lobes ovate to oblong, subobtuse, 4–5 mm., subentire; petals lanceolate to linear, subobtuse, 2.5–4.5 mm., (1–)3-nerved, subentire, inserted 1–3.5 mm. above the base of the hypanthium; staminodes 2–4 mm., connate for 0.5–1 mm., sometimes bearing abortive anthers, inserted at the base of the hypanthium; septa up to 1 mm. high; corona 0; disk glands ± 0.5 mm.; gynophore 2–3 mm.; ovary ovoid-ellipsoid, 3–3.5 mm.; styles connate for 0.5–1 mm., style-arms 0.5–1 mm.; stigmas subglobose, finely papillate-laciniate, 1.5–2 mm. in diameter. Fruits 1(–2) per inflorescence, ovoid to ellipsoid, excluding the ± 5 mm. long gynophore (2–)3–3.5 cm.; pericarp coriaceous. Seeds ± 40 per capsule, obovate to subrotund, ± 5–5.5 mm.
