Information
Epiphytic or lithophytic erect or pendulous herb 18–30 cm tall; stem leafy, simple or rarely branched. Leaves ligulate, thick, coriaceous, retuse to unequally bilobed at apex, 15–20 x 1.5–2.5 cm. Inflorescence erect, racemose, corymbose or shortly paniculate, 3–8 cm long, rather densely few–many-flowered. Flowers fragrant, especially towards the evening, yellowish with reddish markings. Sepals and lateral petals fleshy, strongly curved, the sepals 10–14 x 5–8 and the petals 8–12 x 3–14 mm; lip fleshy, 3-lobed, upper surface variously papillose, saccate at base, 8–12 x 3–4 mm. Column 1.5–3.5 mm long.
Range
S3 widespread in tropical Africa from Kenya and Zaire to South Africa, Madagascar and adjacent islands.
