Information
Shrub or small tree, 1–5(–7.5) m high; young branchlets shortly pubescent to glabrous. Stipular spines 1.5–4.5(–7.5) cm long, some basally fused and enlarged into ± globose, purplish-brown “ant-galls”. Leaves: pinnae 3–13 pairs; leaflets 11–22 pairs, 1.5–5.5 x 0.7–1.25 mm, glabrous or minutely ciliolate. Flowers white or cream, in heads; peduncles glabrous or pubescent, with the involucel at or near the base. Calyx 0.75–1.5(–2.5) mm long. Corolla 3–4 mm long. Pods falcate, mostly attenuate at both ends, dehiscent, 4–7 x 0.5–1 cm, brownish, finely longitudinally veined, glabrous or ± densely puberulous. Seeds ± elliptic, compressed, 10–12 x 4.5–5.5 mm; areole up to 6 x 3.5 mm.
