Information
Shrubby herb or shrub, up to c. 2 m tall; all parts greyish tomentose with very short stellate hairs and without long simple hairs; stems soon angular with longitudinal ridges. Leaves with 1–12 cm long petiole; blade ± broadly ovate, up to 23 x 16 cm but usually much smaller, cordate at the base, acute to acuminate at the apex, with crenate or serrate margins. Flowers in terminal and lateral panicles; pedicels 1–3.5 cm long. Calyx 6–10 mm long. Petals 10–22 mm long, yellow to orange. Mericarps 20–30, 7–9 x 5–6 mm, 1-seeded, rounded or with an obtuse dorsal angle, tomentose. Seeds c. 2.5 mm long, smooth to finely papillose.

Notes
Puccioni 35 (FT) from “Mobilen” in S3 is sterile, but has the characteristic angular stems of this species. Warfa 91 from S2 is also a poor specimen.
