Information
Moderately villous, becoming glabrate. Roots many, thick, long; on the crown of the roots (or shortened sterile stem) is the central tuft of leaves; these leaves 2 by 1/3 in., lanceolate. Lateral flowering stems 4–5, 3–5 in. long, frequently divided, with 3–5 heads of flowers, and smaller leaves; outermost bracts to the terminal heads 1/2 in. long, ovate; bracts of the cymes obscurely (or not conspicuously) 2-ranked.
