Information
Shrub or tree to 15 m tall, spiny or rarely unarmed; bark grey, fissured. Leaves tomentose beneath; petiole 3–12 mm long; blade ovate to elliptic or suborbicular, 2–8 x 1–5 cm, finely serrulate, subacute to rounded at the apex, symmetrical or nearly so at the base. Flowers tomentose, white to yellowish-green, in usually many-flowered cymes. Sepals 1.5–2 mm long. Petals c. 1.5 mm long. Drupe 10–20 mm in diam., red.
Range
N1; C2; S1, 3 drier parts of Africa and Asia, distribution much extended by man, also introduced in America.
Altitude range
20–1320 m.
