Information
Tree to 42 m. tall. Leaves oblong-elliptic or elliptic, 3–15 cm. long and 1.4–5.0 cm. wide. Bracts 3 mm. long and 3.5 mm. wide. Sepals 6–7 mm. long and 4–4.5 mm. wide; petals 5.5–7 mm. long and 3 mm. wide. Staminal tube 5 mm. long and 2–3 mm. in diameter, thecae 2 mm. long. Ovary 4 mm. long; style 1 mm. long. Fig. 1.

Notes
VARIATION. In the eastern part of its range (Bukoba-Toro) this subspecies is taller and has a rather different ecology. Field labels of specimens collected in this area always mention that the bark smells of sandalwood. The possibility of ecotypes should be borne in mind. It seems probable that the four taxa in this genus are the result of geographical and ecological isolation.
