Notes
The specimen Fries 1192 (UPS) from the Lufu R., N. Rhodesia, referred to in R.E. Fr., Wiss. Ergebn. Schwed. Rhod.-Kongo-Exped. 1: 134 (1914) and by White, F.F.N.R.: 231 (1962) under the name Cissus fischeri Gilg consists of leaves and stems only. These are certainly much more hairy than any of our available material of Cissus quadrangularis but as the type of C. fischeri Gilg is probably destroyed and as the Fries material is so poor we prefer to defer a decision as to whether it represents a form of C. quadrangularis or a distinct species.
