Vitex Dewevrei De Wild. & Durand [family LABIATAE], in Comptes-rendus Soc. Bot. Belg. xxxviii. 133.
Information
A tree 40–50 ft. high; branchlets glabrous or rufopubescent. Leaves long-petioled, 5-foliolate; leaflets oblong, shortly stalked, 4–7 in. long, 1 1/2–2 in. broad, abruptly acuminate, narrowed to the base, entire, shining above, glabrous or subglabrous beneath. Cymes supra-axillary, peduncled; branches pubescent; bracts oblong-lanceolate; flowers sessile, bi-bracteolate. Calyx campanulate, 5-toothed, tomentose, 1/8 in. long; teeth small, deltoid, acute. Corolla not seen. Fruit globose, black, 1/4– 1/3 in. diam.
Distribution
Congo Lower Guinea Lukungu, Dewèvre.
