Perennial herb (5–)8–30(–40) cm tall; stems ascending, rooting, sometimes branched in the prostrate part, with short eglandular, rarely some glandular hairs, internodes usually longer than leaves. Leaves sessile to shortly petiolate, orbicular to elliptic or oblanceolate, 0.8–2.5 cm long, 0.5–1.3 cm wide, margins entire to crenate, glabrous or puberulous on margins near base. Inflorescence of terminal bracteate racemes; flowers (8–)15–25 appearing solitary in the axils of ovate to lanceolate bracts; pedicels 3–8 mm long. Calyx-segments more or less elliptic to ovate, 2–3(–5.5) mm long, sometime some glandular and eglandular hairs at the margins. Corolla blue to white with bluish veins; tube 5–6(–8) mm long; lobes rounded, ± 3 mm long; style 2–3 mm long. Capsule compressed, two-lobed, 2.5–3.5 mm long, 4–6 mm wide, with a persistent long style.
