Information
Biennial, 40–100 cm high; stems slender, simple or sparsely branched, villous to glabrous towards the base, ± glandular-hairy above. Lower leaves 4–15(–21) cm long and 1–4 cm wide, petiolate, lyrato-pinnate, with several to many small oblong or tooth-like segments on each side, terminal lobe much larger broadly ovate or ovate-elliptic, coarsely toothed, pubescent to glabrous; upper stem leaves few, decreasing markedly in size, triangular-ovate, acute at apex, semi-amplexicaul, coarsely toothed; petiole 6–13 cm. Bracts 2 to 4 times shorter than the fruiting pedicels, glandular. Racemes lax, many-flowered; pedicels in fruit 10–22 mm long. Calyx deeply divided, lobes lanceolate, 2–3 mm long, glandular. Corolla yellow with purple centre, 12–20 mm in diameter. Stamens purple, all bearded with white hairs; style 8–12 mm long, glabrous. Capsule subglobose, 5–6 mm in diameter, glabrous. Seeds numerous, ± 0.5 mm long.

Notes
USES. None recorded on specimens from our area. CONSERVATION Not much material from Kenya; possibly at threat from habitat degradation in the Flora area, but not uncommon elsewhere. Assesed here as of Least Concern (LC). The type of Verbascum interruptum is not traceable at the Fresenius herbarium at FR.
