Notes
The occurrence of this coastal subspecies inland in Kenya at Chuka is unusual, although it does reach this altitude at Mtai in the Usambara Mts., where, however, there is not the same intervening wide belt of arid country. No further material from Chuka has been seen and it should be looked for.Two specimens have been seen from Kenya (Kwale District, 12.8 km. WSW. of Gazi, Mafisini, Buda Forest, 16 Aug. 1953, Drummond & Hemsley 3804! and on Lungalunga-Msambweni road, forest between Umba and Mwena Rivers, 18 Aug. 1953, Drummond & Hemsley 3860!) in which the leaves attain 14.5 × 7.5 cm., are distinctly acuminate and have the lateral nerves impressed above as in U. angolensis.
