Information
Creeping annual, rooting from the lower nodes, up to 100 cm high; leaves broadly linear to narrowly lanceolate, pubescent to velvety-tomentose. Inflorescence of 2–5 racemes on an axis 2–6 cm long; racemes 2–6 cm long, bearing single spikelets on a narrowly winged rhachis. Spikelets broadly elliptic, plumply plano-convex, 3.5–5 mm long, cuspidate; lower glume cuff-like, up to 1/4 the length of the spikelet, truncate; upper glume tuberculate, the tubercles often with spines or bristles; lower lemma tuberculate; lower palea with hyaline centre (middle 1/3–1/2) flanked by wide coriaceous strips along the keels; upper lemma submuricate, with a mucro 0.5 mm long.
