Names
Tylecodon suffultus [family CRASSULACEAE]
Information
Perennials with short, sparsely branched tubers producing slender procum­bent branches up to 0,3 m long covered with grey bark with darker striations. Leaves lin­ear-elliptic, (8-)10-20(-25) X 2,5-5 mm, acute to rarely obtuse, terete but flat or with a groove above, glabrous, dark green. Inflo­rescence a thyrse with 3—5 monochasia, each with 1-3 flowers, with few glandular hairs; peduncle 20-50 mm long, grey-green. Calyx 4-5 mm long, with few scattered glandular hairs, yellowish green; lobes narrowly tri­angular, acute. Corolla with scattered glan­dular hairs outside; tube cylindrical, 5-6 mm long, with fine hairs in throat and on lobes; yellowish green; lobes 4-5 mm long, re­curved, pink. Anthers 1,3-1,6 mm long. Squamae oblong, 1—1,2 x c. 8 mm, emargi­nate, slightly fleshy, yellow.
Use
25. Tylecodon suffultus Bruyns ex Tolken in Bothalia 12: 380 (1978). Type: Cape, below Vanrhyn's Pass, Bruyns 1091 (PRE, holo.!).
Range
Known only from one locality near Vanrhyn's Pass (north-western Cape Province) where it grows among other succulent shrubs on lower slopes. Flowering period: December.
