Information
Erect perennial herb up to 70 cm., growing from a woody rootstock, glabrous. Tendrils up to 6 cm., sometimes absent. Leaf-blades elliptic to lanceolate, 1.5–8 by 0.5–2(–4.5) cm., base acute, apex obtuse to acute, margin serrate, the teeth to 1 mm., sharply mucronate; petiole 0.1–0.4(–0.6) cm. Stipules 2–3 mm. False stipules asymmetrical, (0.5–)1–4 cm., acute at both ends, margin serrate. Inflorescences 1–2-flowered; peduncle 1–5 cm.; bracts 1.5–3 mm. Flowers glabrous; stipe 2–5 mm. Hypanthium ± 2.5 mm. wide. Sepals 5, the inner ± petaloid, 4–5.5 mm., obtuse. Petals 0. Outer corona-tube ± 2 mm.; threads 1–1.8 mm. Disk 0.2–0.5 mm. Inner corona cup-shaped, 0.7–1 mm. Stamens 5; filaments 1.5–2.5 mm.; anthers 0.7– 1 mm. Ovary 0.7–1.3 mm.; styles 3(–4), 0.7–1.3 mm., free. Fruit (excluding the 3–6 mm. long gynophore) 1.5–2 cm., containing 1–3 seeds. Seeds ±7 mm.

The only specimen from the Flora region, Milne-Redhead & Taylor 8759, is a deviating specimen with decumbent habit, rather broad leaves, and small but distinct false stipules; it shows some resemblance in habit with the form of B. sandersonii found in the same area.
