Information
Caespitose perennial with well developed creeping rhizomes; culms up to 120 cm tall, erect, leafy throughout; leaf lamina 20–40 cm × 2–6 mm, flat or involute, setaceously acuminate.Panicle 12–30 cm long, oblong or elliptic, dense, the branches straight or flexuous, spiculate ± throughout.Spikelets 5–10 mm long excluding the awns, 5–7(15)-flowered, narrowly oblong; glumes somewhat unequal in length, the inferior 2.3–4.3 mm long, the superior 3.7–4.5 mm long; lemmas narrowly lanceolate, the body 3–5 mm long; awns 2–2.5 mm long; anthers 1.2–2.3 mm long.

Notes
The species is included on the basis of a statement mentioning its occurrence in Botswana by Chippindall and a dot in the distribution map for the species in Gibbs Russell et al.There is no reason to doubt the accuracy of these records, but thus far no material for confirmation has been seen.
