Information
villoso-pubescent or hirsute; stems procumbent or prostrate; leaflets cuneate-oblong, obtuse or emarginate, denticulate, nerve-striate, villoso-pubescent; stipules oblongo-lanceolate, leafy; peduncles axillary, elongate, hirsute; heads many flowered; segments of the villous calyx setaceo-subulate, nerved, longer than the tube; legume? Closely allied to T. Burchellianum, from which it chiefly differs by its narrower leaflets, rarely subobcordate, mostly rounded at end, and usually copious pubescence. Var. β. is, however, an intermediate state, sometimes nearly glabrous, and then only to be known by its narrow leaflets.

SOUTH AFRICA Moist places near Mooyplaats and Camdeboosberg, 4–4500f., Drege. Near the Orange River, Burke & Zeyher! β. Tambukeland, E. & Z. Port Natal, Drege, Sanderson, &c. (Herb. Hk., D.)
Notes
I have seen no authentic specimen of Burchell's plant, and describe from a sp. in Hb. Hooker, marked by Bentham. T. hirsutum, Thunb.! fide Hb. Upsal, is some Lotononis not ascertained.
