Notes
USES. None recorded. CONSERVATION Widespread; least concern (LC). Fronds closely resemble those of C. melanotrichum and Polyphlebium borbonicum. This taxon differs in the branched trichomes on the rhizome and the shape of the indusium. I am not sure whether this actually warrants specific status – but I am also unwilling to meddle with the status quo based on slight doubts! A Mascarene taxon is rather close: Crepidomanes frappieri (Cordem.) J.P.Roux, Conspect. southern Afr. Pteridoph.: 45 (2001). Type: Reunion, sine loco, sine collectore (not found). Neotype: Reunion, Brule de St Denis, 1891, Bedier s.n. (P!, holo.), chosen by Pic.Serm.; synonym Vandenboschia frappieri (Cordem.) Pic.Serm. in Webbia 37: 131 (1983). As its basionym is Trichomanes frappieri Cordem. in Bull. Soc. Sci. Arts Reunion 1890–91: 143 (1891); Kornaś in Fragm. Florist. Geobot 39: 62, fig. 23 (1994), this epithet would have priority. Again, I am unwilling to meddle with the status quo.
