Information
Strong herbaceous twiner to 5 m long with a strong unpleasant smell; stems terete, with band of setose hairs at nodes, otherwise glabrous or with thin bands of hairs downwards from nodes. Leaves palmately veined; petiole 1.5–3.5 cm long on vegetative leaves, pilose; lamina ovate-cordiform, largest 6–9≈4–5 cm, apex acuminate, apiculate, base cordate with rounded to hastate lobes, margin entire to irregularly dentate, pilose along major veins and on edges, sometimes sparsely so on lamina. Flowers solitary in upper leaf-axils; pedicels 1.5–3.5 cm long, glabrous or hairy at the very apex; bracteoles green with conspicuous darker green reticulation, ovate, 2.7–3.3≈0.8–1.2 cm, acuminate, with sparse long broad glossy hairs and long-stalked capitate glands on margings and veins, densest towards base. Calyx glabrous, ± 2.5 mm high of which the broadly triangular lobes about half. Corolla limb and upper part of tube deep purple, lower part of tube whitish, throat deep yellow; tube 4–5 cm long; lobes 1.7–2.8≈1.2–2.2 cm. Filaments ± 18 mm long; anthers and stigma not seen. Capsule ± 18 mm in diameter, beak ± 2.8 cm long. Seed not seen.
