Information
Perennial herb with several trailing or twining stems from large woody rootstock; stems to 2 m long, sparsely to densely whitish to yellowish pubescent to pilose. Leaves with petiole 1–3 cm long, not winged, indumentum as stems; lamina triangular-cordiform, largest 2.3–7.8≈2–5.5 cm, apex acute or subacute, base cordate with subhastate lobes, margin coarsely dentate; sparsely pubescent to tomentose or velutinous, densest on veins. Flowers axillary, solitary; pedicels 5–22 cm long, indumentum as stems; bracteoles ovate to oblong or broadly so, (2–)2.5–4≈(0.8–)1–2.5 cm, acute to acuminate, truncate to subcordate and slightly 4-angular at base, yellowish pubescent to tomentose. Calyx densely puberulous and with capitate glands, rim 2–5 mm high, segments triangular or narrowly so, 1–3 mm long. Corolla bright orange, without purple throat; cylindric tube ± 5 mm long; throat sharply curved, campanulate, 2.5–4 cm long and 1–1.7 cm in diameter apically; lobes 1.3–2.5≈1.5–2.5 cm, broadly emarginate. Filaments 6–8 and 8–10 mm long; anthers 4–6 mm long, not apiculate, densely bearded at base and half way along one side; spurs ± 1.5 mm long. Capsule densely pubescent, subglobose, 8–10 mm in diameter, beak (12–)15–20 mm long, constricted at base. Seed ± 5 mm in diameter, dark brown, reticulate.
