Information
Erect perennial herb with several stems from woody rootstock; stems to 45 cm long, quadrangular, uniformly puberulous or densely so. Leaves palmately veined; petiole 1–4 cm long on vegetative leaves, uniformly puberulous; lamina ovate, largest 8–11≈4–6.5 cm, apex acute to acuminate, apiculate, base subcordate to cordate with rounded to hastate lobes, margin entire to crenate, puberulous or sparsely so, densest along major veins. Flowers solitary; pedicels 1.5–2.8 cm long, uniformly puberulous or densely so; bracteoles green, with obscure reticulation, ovate, 1.2–1.5≈0.4–0.6 cm, acute, densely uniformly puberulous, with or without a few long glossy glandular hairs. Calyx minutely puberulous, ± 1.5 mm high of which the broadly triangular lobes about half. Corolla limb and upper part of tube royal blue to dark purple, lower part of tube whitish, throat deep yellow; tube 3–4 cm long; lobes ± 1≈1.5–2 cm. Filaments ± 12 mm long; anthers ± 2.5 mm long. Style with scattered glands apically. Capsule 8–10 mm in diameter, beak 12–13 mm long. Seed dark brown, 4–5 mm in diameter, reticulate.
