TETRAGONIA arbuscula Fenzl. [family AIZOACEAE]
Information
suffruticose, much branched, glabrous; branches diffuse, woody, virgate; branchlets abbreviate, leafy; leaves ovate-oblong, lanceolate or linear, obtuse, attenuated in a short petiole, flat, not revolute at the margins; flowers 2–3, pedicellate in the axils of the leaves, disposed in a long leafy raceme; lobes of calyx broad-ovate, very blunt; stamens 20–30; styles 2–3, a little longer than the calyx; fruit 1/2 inch, shining, obovate-orbicular, 2–3- locular, with 3 or 4 wings and 4 alternate, obsolete costæ. Leaves 4–10 lines long. Calyx-lobes mostly 1 1/2 line long. Allied to T. fruticosa; differs by the woody branches and branchlets, smaller flowers and fruit, and more exserted styles.
