TERMINALIA scutifera Planch. [family COMBRETACEAE], in Herb. Hook.
Information
Leaves obovate or ovate-elliptical and shortly acuminate, coriaceous, glabrous, 5–7 in. long, 2 1/2–3 1/2 broad; petioles puberulous. Flowers in panicles, diœcious? Fruit broadly obdeltoid, wings not produced below, 1 in. long, 1 1/4 in. broad, puberulous, reddish.
Range
This is the only species from Africa with triangular fruit.
