Information
Shrublet 0.6–1.3 m high. Stems few-branched, erect or ascending sometimes slightly ridged, strigose or more rarely almost glabrous, slender and hard. Leaves 2–9 cm long; lateral leaflets in 5–10 pairs, alternate to subopposite, 5–12 × 1–3 mm, elliptic to linear-oblong, obtuse at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base, usually glabrous, more rarely puberulous on the upper surface, pubescent beneath; petiole 5–11 mm long; rhachis sulcate on the upper side, rounded on the back; stipules c. 2 mm long, ovate to oblong. Racemes 2–8-flowered; peduncle 7–17 mm long; rhachis 3–5 mm long; bracts 1–2 mm long, ovate; pedicels 3–6 mm long; bracteoles c. 1 mm long, at the base of the calyx, acute. Calyx tube campanulate, c. 10 mm long, strigose or setose without, glabrous within; lobes 3–4 mm long, ovate to linear-oblong, obtuse, pubescent or strigose without, pubescent to almost glabrous within. Corolla glabrous, scarlet; standard 16–29 mm long, elliptic to oblong, tapering at the base, with the margins usually reflexed above; wings 6–11 mm long, 1.5–1.8 mm wide, linear, oblique and acute at the apex, shortly auriculate, clawed; keel petals 25–38 mm long including the 6–13 mm long claws, the blades oblong to lanceolate. Filament sheath 17–24 mm long; free parts of the filaments 5–8 mm long, filiform; anthers 0.3 mm long, oblong. Ovary stipitate, 10–18 mm long, oblong, semitranslucent, glabrous; stipe 8–14 mm long; style 16 mm long, bearded along the upper side on the distal third. Pod 4–6 × 1–2 cm, membranaceous, inflated.
