Information
An erect unarmed shrub; branches glabrous. Leaves oblong, acuminate, subacute at the base, coriaceous, glabrous, 3-nerved from above the base, 5 in. long, 2 1/2 in. broad; petiole 3 lin. long. Cymes axillary, 1 1/4 in. long, many-flowered; branches and pedicels puberulous; bracts boat-shaped, acute; bracteoles 2, a short distance below the calyx, suborbicular. Calyx 5-partite, pubescent outside, 1 lin. long; lobes rotundate. Corolla thick, glabrous outside, with a hairy ring in the throat and another in the middle of the tube; tube narrowly campanulate, 3 lin. long; lobes 5, 2 lin. long, oblong-lanceolate, acute, slightly hooded at the apex. Stamens inserted in the corolla-throat; filaments very short; anthers oblong, 1 lin. long. Ovary ovoid, glabrous; style subulate, slightly exserted; stigma subcapitate.
