Shrub or small tree, up to c. 5 m tall; young branches with o without lenticels. Leaf-blades narrowly elliptic to suborbicular, 2–10 x 1–4 cm, rounded to acute at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base, glabrous to pubescent. Flowers 4-merous, in axillary inflorescences. Calyx-lobes broadly ovate to suborbicular, 1.7–2.5 mm long. Corolla 5–8 mm long, hairy in throat. Pistil 4–6 mm long, with ovary hairy above. Fruit orange to yellow, 2–8 cm in diam., with a thick wall, several-seeded.
