a shrub, 1–2 ft. high; branches sparingly villous; leaves imbricate, ovate-oblong, or lanceolate, very acute, 5 lin. long, about 2 lin. wide, strongly striate on the back, floccose on the margins at least when young; flowers in the axils of the uppermost leaves; calyx glabrous; tube slender, 6 lin. long, subcylindrical; lobes ovate, cuspidate, nearly 1 lin. long; petals 12; anthers oblong, acuminate, 3/4 lin. long, included; ovary ovoid, 1/2 lin. long. null
