Notes
Brenan states that var. densiflora differs from var. kilimandscharica in shorter branches with longer, more spreading (not incurved) leaves; he felt var. kilimandscharica was restricted to mountains in N Tanzania, and elsewhere var. densiflora occurred. But Volkens 1012 from Kilimanjaro shows both types of leaf position, and both types occur on mountains in northern Tanzania. It is true that this is the only area where the appressed leaf position occurs, but I do not believe this warrants varietal status.
