Notes
Perrier de la Bâthie in Mém. Mus. Nat.Paris, nouv. sér. 18: 244 (1944) includes Sclerocarya in Poupartia Comm. ex Juss.(1789), a genus of the Mascarenes, Madagascar and the Comores. He also suggests that the genus Lannea A. Rich. (1831) should be included. Pseudospondias Engl. (1883) and Haematostaphis Hook. f. (1860) are also close. Aubréville sinks Sclerocarya but maintains Lannea. Pending thorough revision of the whole group, however, I have followed tradition in maintaining all these genera. Sclerocarya differs from Poupartia as follows: — Poupartia, stamens 8 (–10), stigmas 5; Sclerocarya, stamens 12–16 (–26), stigmas (2–) 3.
