Information
habit, corm, leaves and spathe just as in S. bulbifera, but the flowers larger, with a limb an inch or more long, and oblong segments often 1/2 in. broad, usually yellow or purple; spathes 3/4–1 in. long, laciniated half-way down; anthers also larger than in S. bulbifera. null

Notes
Exceedingly variable in flower colouring, the principal named forms being atropurpurea, dark purple, anemonæflora, pale yellow, Liliago, white flushed with claret purple outside, and stellaris, dark purple, with oblanceolate, acute, narrower segments.
