Names

Information
Tree up to 9 m. high; branchlets greyish, striate. Leaves 9–11-foliolate, up to 41 cm. long; petiole and rhachis up to 30 cm. long, puberulous; leaflets alternate, discolorous (greyish-green above, greenish beneath), coriaceous, glabrous, contracted at the apex into an acumen 5–11 mm. long, with the margin undulate and thickened, petiolulate (petiolule c. 7 mm. long, canaliculate above), the terminal one 11 × 5 cm., elliptic, symmetric at the base, the intermediate ones 9–10 × 3·8–4·2 cm., ovate to oblong, very asymmetric at the base, the basal ones 5–6 × 3–4 cm., broadly ovate; midrib and lateral nerves (9–11 on each side) straw-coloured, prominulous above, prominent below, reticulation visible on both surfaces but more so beneath. Panicles reddish, 20 cm. long (or more?), axillary, lax. Flower-bud purplish, subglobose. Calyx-lobes 0·5 × c. 1·5 mm., subacute. Petals dark reddish-purple, c. 3 × 1·75 mm., with an apical cuneiform thickening on the inner face. Stamens 13–16; anthers c. 1·25 mm. long, oblong. Female flowers and fruit unknown.
