SOLANUM pauperum C. H. Wright [family SOLANACEAE], in Kew Bulletin, 1894, 127. —Hiern in Cat. Afr. Pl. Welw. i. 746.
Information
Stem woody, branched, terete, slightly rugose, lepidote when young. Leaves lanceolate, 1 1/2 in. long, 1/2 in. wide, glabrous, slightly crenulate, blackish when dry; petiole 3/4 in. long. Cymes umbellate, subterminal; pedicels 1/3 in. long. Calyx cupular, slightly pubescent; teeth 5, ovate, rather shorter than the tube. Corolla rotate; lobes 5, oblong, pubescent outside. Stamens 5: anthers sessile, short, pores small, terminal. Ovary globose; style rather longer than the stamens. Fruit globose, 1/3 in. in diam., smooth, shining.
