Information
Prostrate to suberect perennial herb; all parts glabrous. Stems thick, smooth, rooting at nodes. Leaves opposite, oblanceolate, 10–65 x 1–14 mm, narrowing into petiole, base with scarious margins clasping stem and joined to that of opposite leaf, tip rounded, succulent with convex lower surface. Pedicels 3–15 mm long, thicker near tip. Perianth 7–12 mm long, tepals c. 3 times as long as tube, triangular, unequal, acute with subapical apiculus, pink, red or purplish inside. Stamens many, free. Ovary (2–)3(–4)-celled. Seeds black, smooth, c. 1.6 mm long.
