Information
Prostrate or straggling annual or short-lived perennial herb; all parts glabrous. Stems usually rough with small warty outgrowths, not rooting at nodes. Leaves opposite, subopposite or alternate (by reduction); petiole 3–10 mm long, only slightly expanded at base; blade elliptic to ovate, 7–20 x 2–11 mm, base narrowing into petiole, tip rounded. Flowers sessile. Perianth 5–14 mm long, tube c. 2/5ths as long, tepals narrowly triangular, sinuses between them extending into short horns, tips acute with subapical apiculus 1–2 mm long, inside pink. Stamens 5–many, free. Ovary 2-celled; styles 2. Seeds 2–10 per cell, rugose, black.
