Perennial herb; stem succulent, pale green, purple-tinged, from which arise erect leafy flowering stems 18–38 cm high, glabrous. Basal and median stem leaves succulent, dull green with mauve margins, paler and slightly glaucous beneath, petiolate, peltate, circular, 3.8–7.5 cm in diameter, shallowly and regularly sinuate; petiole 2–7.5 cm long, mauve, exauriculate; upper stem leaves sessile, few, oblong to ovate, 3.5–4.1 cm long, 1.2–2.2 cm wide, base semi-amplexicaul, margins entire, apex obtuse. Capitula radiate, erect in congested terminal corymbs; stalks of the individual capitula short; involucre cylindrical, 7 mm long, 3–5 mm in diameter; bracts of calyculus 6–7, linear, 6–7 mm long; phyllaries 10–13, yellow-green with purple tips, 6.5 mm long. Ray florets 5–6, tube 4 mm long, glabrous, rays bright yellow, 6 mm long, 3 mm wide, 4–5-veined; disc florets yellow, 6.5 mm long, expanded from below the middle, glabrous, lobes 1 mm long. Mature achenes unknown; ovary 1.5 mm long, glabrous; pappus 4–4.5 mm long.
