Information
Scandent subshrub to 8 m long; stems white-tomentose, glabrescent, glandular. Leaves membranous, dark green above, ovate, 5–13 cm long, 3–11 cm wide, base cordate (the incision acute), margins sinuate-denticulate with glandular-apiculate teeth, apex acute to abruptly acuminate, glabrous to lanate above, densely white-tomentose beneath; palmately 5–7-veined from the base; petiole 1–8 cm long. Capitula in dense terminal and upper axillary paniculoid corymbs, disciform; stalk of individual heads 3.5–9 mm long; involucre obconic, to 6 mm long and 2–3 mm wide; bracts of calyculus 3–7, ± 3 mm long; phyllaries 7–10, oblong-lanceolate, 4–5.5 mm long, acute to acuminate, tomentellous to glabrous. Florets ± 12, outer female, inner hermaphrodite, corollas 5–8.2 mm long, pale yellow to almost white; lobes 1.2–1.5 mm long. Achenes cylindrical, 1–2.4 mm long, ribbed, glabrous; pappus 5–11 mm long, creamy white. Fig. 129 (page 615).

USES. None recorded on specimens from our area CONSERVATION Restricted in distribution but with rather wide altitude range; least concern (LC) Reported to flower only rarely, but observed to flower during the first and the last quarter of the year. Luke reports he has seen this in the Bale Mts in Ethiopia, in 2003.
