perennial, much branched, 1 1/2–5 ft. high; branches pubescent or puberulous; leaves more or less fascicled, sometimes crowded, lanceolate or linear, or sometimes oblong, subobtuse, entire or more or less denticulate or dentate, softly pubescent or puberulous, 1/4–1 1/2 in. long, 1–5 lin. broad; flowers very numerous, corymbosely arranged at the summit of the branches in a broad lax panicle or more compact head; bracts elliptic-oblong, obtuse, concave, usually more or less ciliate, adnate at the base to the pedicel, 1 lin. long; pedicels 1/2–1 lin. long; calyx 1 lin. long; lobes broadly oblong, obtuse, minutely ciliate, shorter than the tube; corolla white or light blue; tube campanulate-oblong, 1 lin. long; lobes broadly oblong or rounded, shorter than the tube; fruit ovoid-oblong, subcompressed, 1 lin. long. null
