Stems 15–50 cm long, erect or ascending from a creeping base bearing long thick rhizophores; main stem usually pale, shortly pubescent on lower surface or ± glabrous in material from Flora area, with scattered uniform ± ovate leaves for most of the unbranched part; copiously pinnately flabellately branched above, the rhachises of the branches and branchlets ± densely shortly hairy on lower surface. Branches with very dimorphic more imbricate leaves; lateral leaves ovate to oblong-falcate, 1.5–2.5 mm long, ± 1 mm wide, spreading, subentire towards apex, acroscopic margin denticulate-ciliolate towards the subcordate or rounded base, basiscopic side entire or sparsely ciliolate at the rounded or subtruncate base; axillary leaves ovate, acuminate, ciliate at base, entire; median leaves imbricate, suberect, obliquely ovate, 0.75–1.5 mm long, up to 0.5 mm wide, minutely or hardly denticulate, acuminate to aristate at apex, base ± rounded or subcuneate on inner side, produced and rounded on outer side. Strobili 5–12(–20) mm long, 1–2 mm wide; sporophylls uniform, ovate, 0.75–1 mm long, ± 0.5 mm wide, acuminate, keeled, ciliolate-denticulate. Megaspores white, 230–250 µm in diameter with blunt processes; microspores orange, ± 24 µm in diameter, densely verrucose.
