Information
Thin wiry climber or small shrub. Leaves shortly petiolate; blade 1.3–5 x 0.1–2 cm, lanceolate to elliptic, apex acute or slightly attenuate to obtuse or rounded, apiculate, base rounded or obtuse, glabrous or glabrescent. Inflorescences numerous, 5–20 x 2–25 mm, the cymes few-flowered and subumbellate on short peduncles or larger and more diffuse, sometimes on leafless shoots; peduncles (1–)4–15 mm long; pedicels 0.5–2(–5) mm long. Corolla orange or yellow, sweet-scented; tube 0.3–0.6(–0.8) mm long, broadly campanulate; lobes 1.2–2 x 0.6–0.8 mm. Staminal corona lobes erect, green or white. Apical portion of stigmatic head exserted c. 0.2–0.4 mm from the staminal column, obconic or clavate. Follicles widely divergent, (3.5–)4.5–5.5 x 0.3–0.5 cm, slender, attenuate.
Range
N1 eastern Africa from Ethiopia to Tanzania, with a more narrow-leaved form occurring sporadically elsewhere in tropical Africa.
