Information
Erect annual or perennial herb up to 60 cm. tall. Stem slender, unbranched or branched (sometimes from the base), 4-ridged. Leaves sessile; lamina 6–25 x 7–30 mm. ovate, ovate-circular to subreniform, membranous or leathery, cordate at the base obtuse or shortly apiculate, 5-nerved. Flowers bright yellow to orange in terminal many flowered dichotomous cymes arranged corymbosely or in paniculate corymbose, subdense or dense cymes contracted into round, almost head-like, inflorescence when young, rarely solitary flower; pedicels 1–1.8 mm. long; bracts 2–3 mm. long, ovate lanceolate-elliptic acute, recurved. Calyx segments 4–7.5 x 1.5 mm., lanceolate, to elliptic, acute or acuminate, margin hyaline, with a keel shortly winged, wing broadest below or towards the middle. Corolla tube, (3.5) 4.5–7 mm. long; lobes 5–6.5 x 2.5–3.5 mm. obovate-oblong, obtuse at the apex. Stamens inserted at the corolla-sinuses; filaments 1.75–2 mm. long; anthers 1–2.25 mm. long, oblong, with a minute apical gland and sometimes with 2 minute basal glands. Ovary ellipsoid; style 3.5–5 mm. long, with or without a swelling below the middle or near the base; stigma 1.5–2.5 mm., capitate or clavate, bilobed. Capsule ellipsoid. Seeds 0.35–0.45 x 0.25–0.3 mm., ellipsoid; testa frilled.
