bulb ovoid, 1/2– 3/4 in. diam.; leaves 3–4, lanceolate, acuminate, 4–8 in. long, 1/4– 1/3 in. broad at the middle, narrowed gradually to a clasping petiole 1–2 in. long; peduncle slender, 3–6 in. long; raceme dense, oblong, 1–1 1/2 in. long, 3/4–1 in. diam.; central pedicels 1/6– 1/3 in. long, lower flowers cernuous; perianth campanulate, bright mauve-purple inside and out, 1/8– 1/6 in. long; stamens nearly as long as the perianth; filaments linear, bright purple; ovary globose, stipitate. null
