plant 3–7 in. high; stem rather stout; leaves several, the two lower ovate, subobtuse, 1–1 1/4 in. long, 3/4–1 in. broad, the others decreasing upwards into the bracts; scapes 3–7 in. long; spikes 1–4 in. long, dense, many-flowered; bracts ovate, acute, 1/4– 1/2 in. long; pedicels 1 1/2 lin. long; flowers small, white, smelling of old cheese (Bolus); odd sepal oblong or linear-oblong, obtuse, 1 1/2 lin. long; lateral sepals oblong or ovate-oblong, obtuse, spreading, longer than the odd sepal; petals linear, obtuse, about as long as the odd sepal; lip galeate, broadly ovoid, obtuse, 1 1/2 lin. long, with a broad inflexed apex and margin; spurs broadly saccate-oblong, about 1 lin. long; column 1 lin. long; stigma semiorbicular, very obtuse, scarcely 1/2 lin. long; rostellum cuneate, 3-lobed at the apex, very short; capsule broadly oblong, 3 lin. long. null
