Information
Plant without aerial stem. Leaves 5–8(–12), spirally arranged, ± erect, rigid, 50–120 x c. 1.5 cm, smooth to rough, subcylindric, with 30–40 fine but distinct furrows extending from base to apex on the sides and back and with a concave furrowed channel all along above, ± curved and obtusely cuspidate at the tip, without markings; margins of channel white or with a red-brown line edged with white. Inflorescence a spike-like raceme, up to 60 cm high including peduncle; flowers 3–6 in a cluster, white or greenish-white; pedicels c. 2 mm long, articulated near the tip. Free parts of tepals 12–20 mm long, linear, obtuse; tube 14–32 mm long.

Notes
This is in Somalia only known from the sterile type collection of S. polyrhitis . Fertile material should be looked for in the lower Juba valley to prove the identity of the Somali plant.
