Perennial herb, sometimes mat-forming; stems creeping and rooting at nodes, up to 10 cm long, puberulous to pubescent with many-celled purplish tinged hairs. Leaves pale beneath, crowded at points of rooting or towards end of stems, petiole up to 4 cm long, lamina ovate to elliptic or broadly so to orbicular, largest 2–3.3≈1–2 cm, apex broadly rounded to subacute, base truncate to cordate; puberulous to pubescent or sparsely so (dense along veins) with many-celled purplish tinged hairs. Raceme 2–10 cm long (rarely reduced to a single flower) of which the peduncle (0–)1–6 cm; peduncle and axis puberulous; pedicels 2–13 mm long; bracts lanceolate, 1–2 mm long, ciliate; bracteoles lanceolate, 2–3 mm long, with many-celled crisped hairs. Calyx divided to within 0.5 mm of base; dorsal and two ventral sepals lanceolate, 3–5 mm long, with many-celled crisped hairs, two lateral sepals narrowly triangular, 1–2 mm long. Corolla white to pale blue, 6–8 mm long, glabrous outside; tube 3–4 mm long, glabrous inside; upper lip 2–3 mm long; lateral lobes of lower lip held vertically, oblong, 3–4 mm long, median lobe deflexed, broadly elliptic to circular, 3–4 mm long. Filaments glabrous, 2–3 mm long; anthers glabrous, 0.5–1 mm long; tails ± 0.5 mm long, minutely puberulous. Ovary with a few hairs apically. Capsule ± 3 mm long. Fig. 3, p. 20.
