Information
Annual, growing in clumps; culms 15–70 cm. high. Leaf-blades filiform, folded, 4–15 cm. long, 1–2 mm. wide, papillose on the nerves above. Panicle cylindrical, slender, 2–15 cm. long. Spikelets elliptic, slightly laterally compressed, 0.7–1 mm. long, glabrous; lower glume ovate, 1/3–2/3 as long as the spikelet; upper glume membranous; lower floret barren, with or without a palea up to 0.25 mm. long; upper lemma almost as long as the spikelet, white.
Range
DISTR. U3; T6, 8 Senegal to Sudan; isolated records from Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe
Altitude range
1000–1300 m.
