Notes
Closely related to the preceding, both species having a distinctive papillose upper leaf epidermis. S. huillensis is recognized mainly by its slightly longer spikelets, which extend beyond the tip of the upper lemma. It is distinguished from S. spiciformis (A. Rich.) Stapf, a little known Ethiopian species, only by the slightly longer spikelets (1.8–2 mm.) of the latter.
