Information
Tufted perennial, the basal leaf-sheaths pubescent to tomentose; culms 30–100 cm. high. Leaf-blades flat, 8–20 cm. long, 2–8 mm. wide, mostly ± hairy. Inflorescence of (2–)3–8(–10) racemes, each 3–16 cm. long, the rhachis-margins ciliate. Spikelets narrowly lanceolate, 2.5–3.5 mm. long; lower glume suppressed; upper glume 0.1–0.5 mm. long, obtuse to acute; lower lemma flat on the back with rounded sides, 7-nerved, these clearly raised, the awn 5–20 mm. long; upper floret dark brown.
