Information
Perennial herb, sometimes somewhat woody at the base, up to c. 60 cm tall, glabrous to pubescent. Leaves obovate to lanceolate or linear, 5–10(–40) x 3–6(–10) mm, obtuse at the apex, cuneate or attenuate at the base, margin entire to crenate. Sepals ovate-triangular to oblong, 0.8–1.3 x 0.8–1 mm, glabrous to ciliate or pubescent, falling off in fruit. Petals yellow, 3–5.5 x 1.5–2.2 mm. Ovary 5-celled, with 2 ovules in each cell. Capsules 1.5–2 mm long and 2.5–4.5 mm wide. Seeds c. 1.5 mm long, black to grey, with densely arranged transverse interrupted ridges.
Range
N3 North Africa, Arabian Peninsula and eastwards to Pakistan.
