a biennial or perennial; stem erect, up to 2 feet high, ribbed; leaves oblong or panduriform, sometimes slightly cordate, lower obtuse, upper acute, minutely and irregularly crenulate, petiolate; panicle terminal with spreading branches; whorls distant; pedicels moderately stout, jointed below the middle; inner perianth-segments oblong in fruit, conspicuously toothed, veins reticulate, with an oblong (often rough) wart on the back. null
